California Mileage Tax 2026

Remember how we rejected the mileage tax that would track every mile you drove on top of the gasoline sales tax, vehicle registration tax, and smog fees?

Well, our governor doesn't give up. Because the vote in the last election didn't completely squash all his ideas to get money, he got the idea that Democrats support taxing every possible thing. The mileage tax is back on the table.🙄 According to their plot and plan, every year we will have to report how much we drive if Assembly Bill 1421 passes.☹️ They are floating $900-1350 annually per 15,000 miles driven. For a two-person working household, that's $1800 to $2700 just for driving! Questions: Washington did away with vehicle smog checks all together. They don't even have much solar. Why can't we?🤔 How do they know that the miles we've driven are in California? Are we supposed to track that too? Doesn't that seem like it is making life more difficult rather than easier?🙄 What would it take for you, if you are a Democrat, to not vote for party politicians who continue to come up with these oppressive tax plans?🤔
